Part One: Bones
In the green, humid wilds of Virelda, a hunt turns into disaster, bringing Lord Kagren of Tharneth and his companions to the coastal village of Teyaka. There, among the Nahrzai, they meet Mirei: a young Velka woman with a strange power and no memory of the life she might have had before the village found her.
Part Two: Blood
As Soru recovers, life in Teyaka returns to its unhurried rhythm. In a series of slice-of-life vignettes, friendships form, customs are shared, and hearts begin to open.
